…handmade lavender soap.
Goat Milk Soap
1 cup lard, melted
1 cup olive oil
1 cup goat milk
1/4 cup lye
1/4 cup water
lavender for scent
Dissolve the lye in the water.
(always add lye to water, not the other way around)
Add the lye/water to the fat.
Stir in milk.
Tracing time is about an hour and 15 minutes.
(it didn’t take that long for me, but I used a stick mixer)
Leave in molds 2 days.
Place in freezer 3 hours to help remove soap from molds.
Age for 3 weeks.
*All the ingredients need to be near 110 to 120 degrees.
*I doubled the recipe and put it into a freezer paper lined metal 13×9.
…
next, i plan to try using the
fat from the pigs we butchered.
this involves rendering the fat
(cooking it down and getting rid of
all the gristle, etc.)
Right now,
the fat from each pig
is in 3 humongously big
plastic bags in the freezer.
…wish me luck. : )
